"Big Hard Sun" 18x24 oil on linen birch board

I rearranged my studio a few weeks ago. (mainly i think it was procrastination... i have been uninspired recently as well as having to prioritize what life has dealt me as of late) the good news - my studio was in desperate need of a good cleaning and organization!

my 4th annual workshop at kiawah was last week and it was amazing how easy it was to pack up the supplies (i think my spic and span studio helped)

the week had full days of painting, an amazing and patient teacher, Ian Roberts and a cast of wonderful woman students.  old friends that i loved seeing (and rooming with) and new friends that i loved laughing with.  the group meshed so perfectly!

this was the first year i actually wanted to skip lunch and continue painting! darkness came too soon in the evenings.  most nights i would skip showers just to get those extra minutes for brush time! the days flew quickly by and Wednesday came too soon!  the last nights dinner was wonderful (i did shower) new friends are now old friends. delicious food, wonderful wine and great conversation! oh and the dancing was a bonus!

the kiawah workshop no doubt has reignited my inspiration... i most enjoyed painting this one today!  the segments joined together like magnets...listening, always listening.

don't forget the music in life.

This will be going to The Columbus Museum in Georgia for "let There be Art" show .

  1. Love the painting, Ann, and love the post! Sorry to have missed such a beautiful and inspiring time. But often, what made it so wonderful is the perfect mix of those who were there! Love to you, Mary
