Painted from a photo taken downtown Charleston on a cross street off of East Bay. My husband Ray thought it look like an area in San Francisco, hence the name.
This painting reminded me of upstate New York as you start to descend down the road to the lake. It is actually an interpretation of one of the many photos I took on the drive back from a weekend in kiawah. A perfect weekend, thanks to friends and family.
A view from my parents home in the
old Village out on the Charleston Harbor. Between, dolphins, cruise ships, shrimp boats, weekend boaters to Container Ships from around the world there is an ever changing canvas. Love to paint the views!
Painted for Charleston Artist Collective (CAC) June theme "City scapes". Available 6/1/11. http://www.charlestonartistcollective.org/index2.ntml I painted this from a photo taken on a ride up the Hudson River on our way to a Yankees game. A great day!
My husband Ray pays the house bills, he named the painting!
Painted as well for the Postcard Show: Wish you were here!
Works to be exhibited and up for sale @ the Halsey Institute in Charleston. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 from 6 - 8pm. Each piece is sold @ a standardized price of $75.
I moved to Charleston 20 years ago. With no previous training I decided to try painting. Acrylics first, easy clean up, then switched to oils, more freedom. I am inspired by the natural world around me. I love colors and shapes that I see outside, I try to make them come alive on my canvas. The sense of movement in my art is influenced by music, it is an essential element. Moving while I paint keeps the energy flowing. I use a palette knife to carve lines and shapes to construct a canvas full of movement. I love to build up layers of paint so just a sliver of the original peaks through. The blueprint of the landscape is secondary to the placement of the blocks of color. I am a member of the Charleston Artist Collective, a web-based business. I also show my work at Atrium Gallery in Charleston, SC. I paint in my home studio in the Old Village of Mount Pleasant, SC. I started painting to fill my walls...now I am an "artist in progress"
